Energy On The Offensive #059 - Notorious Texas Plaintiff Attorney Gets Hand Slapped

Plaintiff attorney in trouble and the hidden trap sitting in your policy that plaintiff lawyers love

We are back!

Busy is an excuse for why it has been awhile, however I am excited to share with you this post and more to come.

Notorious Texas Plaintiff Attorney Gets Hand Slapped

Brent Goudarzi has a reputation in Texas as one of the most aggressive plaintiff attorneys. I have read deposition transcripts that will make you laugh like it is a TV show script, given how he acts and gets angry during the deposition.

Thankfully, this behavior is starting to catch up with him. A judge in Louisiana has issued a motion essentially slapping him on the wrist and ordering him to change his behavior. Hopefully, this is the first of many dominoes to fall against him if he keeps up this behavior.

The Danger Of Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) Coverage

Recently, a friend in the insurance business called me, as he was trying to bring on a new trucking client. My friend does not specialize in trucking and was calling for advice. On the call, he said, “I am providing them more coverage, they only have $85K for UM/UIM and I am quoting them with $1M.” I proceeded to tell my friend that by quoting them with $1M of UM/UIM, you are actually hurting the company and setting them up to be severely exploited by plaintiff

The picture below conveys one of the many problems with UM/UIM perfectly. It can be “double-dipped” by plaintiff attorneys. Add workers comp, and your employee could possibly “triple dip”.

Unfortunately, many insurance agents do not understand the danger of UM/UIM coverage.
